These were ONE of my favorite bars growing up in Canada.
We would often have food at church and these were one of those items someone always would bring, and they were very popular.
You will see why!
1st layer
1/2 c butter 2 c graham cracker crumbs
1/4 c brown sugar 1 c coconut
3 T cocoa (1/2 c chopped nuts - optional)
1 beaten egg
combine, put into lined 9" pan & chill 1/2 hr. *I line the pan so once firm I can lift out and cut it neatly.
2nd layer
2 c icing sugar 1/4 c cream or milk
1/4 c butter 2 T custard powder
combine, beating til smooth & fluffy. Spread over 1st layer & chill
3rd layer
3 semi sweet chocolate squares 1/4 c butter, melted
spread over top & chill.
Once chilled firm, remove from pan and cut into squares. Store in airtight container in fridge.
