Ice Cream Cake

Here on the west coast it was our first day with frost on the ground! I know, kind of strange posting an ice cream cake, but this is a fun dessert to make ahead of time and have in freezer, just waiting for all the company to arrive this holiday season ♥

This is a GREAT and fun way to "impress" your family and friends.  I have made this often for the kids for their birthday, and when I have taken it out to parties, others request the recipe for their kid's birthdays.  You don't have to just have it for a birthday though :)The great thing is that you can use any flavor of ice cream you want or have in the house already :)
*I have seen some people suggest to thaw the ice cream but that is NOT necessary - (that changes the texture of the ice cream as well) I just get all ingredients out and let them sit on counter while I'm getting the 'cake' made.
Start with a 9" springform pan. For the bottom layer, I use chopped Oreos (probably about 15+). Then I spread 1 container of coffee ice cream (this usually comes in a small container only). Then I lay small spoonfuls of ice cream all over the crumbs. Mrs. Richardson's hot fudge chocolate sauce goes on next (this freezes well and holds its shape). Next comes 1/2 container or so of mint chocolate chip ice cream. A small container of cool whip - thawed a little on the counter while you are making the cake- goes on top, then shavings of a Hersheys candy bar. Put back in freezer for a few hours to set and get firm. I cover outside with foil of the pan so if some of the ice cream does start to melt, it won't make a mess all over your freezer.   ENJOY♥
