Chocolate Covered Cherries

These are a little time consuming as you need to make them in 2 steps.  The first part is to cover/wrap the cherries.  Then they have to chill before you dip them in the chocolate.

2 large jars of maraschino cherries with stems (drained)
3 T soft butter
1 egg
1 pound powdered sugar
Blend together. If it is too sticky to handle, add a little more powdered sugar.  Roll small amount of dough into ball (a little smaller than a walnut) I flatten the dough in my hand and add the cherry with stem right in the middle. Cover the whole cherry with the dough - up the sides to the stem.  Place on tray covered with waxed paper and put in fridge for a few hours, or overnight.
1 - 2 huge hershey chocolate bars, melted.  Be careful to not overheat/burn the chocolate, because once it hardens you cannot add water or anything else to melt it (this is especially easy to do if you melt it in the microwave). Dip the cherries in the chocolate, and then store these in the fridge.  ENJOY♥ and share with others. This makes about 50.
